Gokhan Inler is expected to leave Leicester City this summer.
Gokhan Inler may be celebrating with a Premier League winner's medal, but the Swiss star could be set for an exit this summer.
Inler had been expecting to play a big role for the Foxes this season after signing from Napoli, but was unable to dislodge Danny Drinkwater and Ngolo Kante in the Leicester midfield.
German channel Sport 1 report that Bundesliga side Schalke are keen on making a move for the 31-year-old.
Inler was quoted by ESPN expressing his frustration at his lack of game time as recently as March: "
I had several enquiries in January, but didn't leave as the manager said that he was counting on me," Inler said on Monday.
"But there have been no more games for me since then. It makes me sick, and the stupid thing for me is that I have the Euro 2016 finals with Switzerland this summer."
However he later added that he did not want to run away from the club, adding in the same interview: "I won't run away and give up on the club's project. I wanted a challenge, and I have got one for sure."
Just this week he commented on social media showing he was content at the club, but that is hard to align with his lack of game time.
Gianluca di Marzio reported in January that Schalke were keen on signing Inler, and it is not a surprise they are looking to follow up their interest.
