Paul Clement has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 4th May, that he believes Middlesbrough have the edge over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Boro are set to host Brighton on the final day, in the most crucial match of the Championship season to date.
If Aitor Karanka’s side are able to avoid defeat they will be promoted, but a Brighton victory would lift them into the top two.
The match looks set to be highly dramatic, with the pressure on both sides and Clement says he cannot wait to watch it.
“What a great game for the Championship,” the former Derby County boss said. “It’s like the play off final itself. Both managers are really good guys. I think maybe Middlesbrough just have the edge on that, having the home advantage.”
Both Boro and Brighton head into the match on the back of draws in their most recent outings.
Middlesbrough could only collect a point against Birmingham City, after playing out a 2-2 draw.
Brighton, meanwhile, rescued a late point against Derby County last Monday.
The loser of the match at the Riverside Stadium will be set to face Sheffield Wednesday in the play offs.
