Liverpool defender is pleased for his teammate to be back showing what he can do.
Both players suffered serious knee injuries in October within days of each other, abruptly ending the positive starts both players had made since their summer moves from Charlton and Burnley.
Ings has been back in first team training this week, and while he is not expected to play before the end of the season, simply to be at the stage of recovery he is at, is fantastic news.
Gomez, who is a little behind Ings in his own rehabilitation, sent a message on social media to convey how happy he is for his teammate.
Buzzing for my bro back in training. Seen him work so hard he'll be back scoring soon https://t.co/jpejuk5R5I— Joe Gomez (@J_Gomez97) May 4, 2016
Gomez was arguably Liverpool's most impressive player in pre-season last year, and went onto show he was capable of making an instant step up from the Championship to the Premier League.
He hopes to be back fit in time for this year's pre-season to make the same kind of impression under current boss Jurgen Klopp as he did for Brendan Rodgers.
