The German defender is looking forward to taking on some big teams.
It was confirmed in mid-April that Huddersfield had finalised a deal to sign Hefele on a free transfer from his current club Dynamo Dresden.
The centre-back has now been talking about his upcoming move to Huddersfield. Speaking to Donaukurier he spoke about the big teams he will be facing in the Championship next season – including Huddersfield’s West Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
He told Donaukurier:
"There are so many attractive stadiums and interesting teams in the second English league. It's something special.
"Leeds are also in the vicinity which I also liked. It is a beautiful area.
"There are not so many Germans, which have the ability to go to England and to play football there.”
"It will certainly already a tough season with many games. The most important thing is that I stay healthy and I can secure a regular place in Huddersfield.”
Leeds are of course Huddersfield’s biggest rivals in the area and next season Hefele will not be so sentimental about his rivals once he crosses the white line.
Leeds fans will no doubt be ready to give him a raucous welcome to a West Yorkshire derby as well.
Whilst the idea of playing Leeds – and the likes of Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest – next season will be filling Hefele with excitement, it is a potential meeting with Liverpool in the domestic cup that has him really excited – stating:
"Playing at Anfield, would of course be amazing."
Huddersfield fans will certainly hope that Hefele shines against Leeds and anyone who comes in his way next season.
