Areas in need of attention?
Should Sunderland stay up then central midfield will perhaps be their main area of weakness, though the returns of Jordi Gomez and Liam Bridcutt would bolster them in the Championship. Another winger and striker will perhaps be welcome either way and multiple arrivals are likely as Allardyce looks to put his own stamp on the side he inherited from Dick Advocaat. Securing the permanent exits of those on loan could be key to this summer's recruitment drive.
