Report: Monaco set to win race for Premier League target Mandanda

Reports in France suggest Monaco have made a move for the Marseille captain, who has been heavily linked with Everton.

Everton's efforts to find a long-term replacement for goalkeeper Tim Howard look to have taken a setback, with reports in France suggesting that Monaco are poised to snatch the signature of Toffees target Steve Mandanda.

The Marseille captain has reportedly been told he cannot be guaranteed first team football at the Stade Velodrome next year, with the club set for an overhaul after a disappointing Ligue 1 campaign.

Mandanda is out of contract in the summer and, having failed to secure a new deal, was heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park earlier in the season, with current keeper Howard set for a move to the MLS.

However, according to Football France, Mandanda has now attracted the attention of Monaco, with reports suggesting the French side have already made contact over a possible move.

The 31-year-old is thought to still prefer a move to the Premier League, but Monaco are quietly confident that the lure of Champions League football could help to seal a move and keep Mandanda in France next season.
