Manchester City travel to the Bernabeu to take on Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Charlie Nicholas has predicted to Sky Sports that Manchester City will lose against Real Madrid this week.
Manchester City take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Wednesday evening.
The two sides drew the first leg of the tie at the Etihad last week, with the 0-0 scoreline being seen by many as a positive for Manuel Pellegrini’s.
Nicholas though, believes that City have ultimately missed their opportunity and will end up seeing their Champions League dream come to an end.
“It wasn't the worst result for City but I thought Madrid were there for the taking in the first leg and City hardly laid a glove on them,” he told Sky Sports.
“Kevin De Bruyne sitting in behind Sergio Aguero does suit the counter-attack and they simply have to have a go at them and score, otherwise it will just be a matter of time before Real get on the score sheet.”
“Sadly, I think they've missed their opportunity and Manuel Pellegrini won't have the glorious ending he's dreaming of, with Bale maintaining his fine form and breaking City hearts.”
Despite what Nicholas may believe, Manchester City will fancy their chances of winning against the La Liga giants.
They are more than capable of bagging a goal against a less than perfect Real Madrid defence and certainly have the players who can produce something out of nothing.
So do Zinedine Zidane’s team though and it is hard to see City progressing if Madrid were to take the lead in the game at any point.
In a season full of shocks though, anything is possible, and they will be hoping to be the latest side to take advantage of it.
