Tottenham Hotspur look destined to finish in second place in the Premier League this season.

Mauricio Pochettino has told Sky Sports that this season is just the start for his Tottenham Hotspur side.

Spurs mounted a push for the Premier League title this term, but they came up just short.

Tottenham could only manage to claim a draw against Chelsea yesterday evening, and they are now seven points behind Leicester City with just two games remaining.

Spurs can no longer catch the Foxes, but Pochettino insists that his side will come back even stronger next season.

"It's true we are disappointed because we had the opportunity to play for the title but in the same way we have to be realistic and congratulate our players,” the Argentine boss said.

"I think we have massive potential for the future and this is the first step. We need to be stronger next season and try to be in the race for the title."

Tottenham’s match against Chelsea was a dramatic way for their title hopes to be ended.

Spurs had raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half, but Chelsea turned the match around in the second period, with Pochettino’s side losing their discipline towards the end.

Tottenham’s players were visibly disappointed at full-time, but their season has still been beyond most supporters'  expectations.

Spurs were considered outsiders for the top four, but they now look destined to finish in second place.

Tottenham also have the youngest squad in the Premier League, and there is great excitement about the future at White Hart Lane.
