Leeds fans react on Twitter as Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel wins Premier League title

Kasper Schmeichel for Leicester City

Leicester City are Premier League champions for the first time.

Leicester City have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in their history after Tottenham drew 2-2 with Chelsea on Monday evening.

The Foxes drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, meaning that Spurs had to beat Chelsea to stand any chance of catching Claudio Ranieri's side.

Despite Harry Kane and Son Heung-min putting Spurs 2-0 up, Chelsea rallied back in the second half to draw the game 2-2, handing Leicester the title after a quite remarkable season.

One of their key players this season has been goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, keeping 15 clean sheets in the Premier League this term - no goalkeeper has more.

The Dane, 29, now follows in the footsteps of his father Peter by winning the Premier League title, and one set of fans who were particularly interested in his success was Leeds United.

Schmeichel spent one year as a Leeds player, joining the club from Notts County in 2010 before being sold to Leicester in 2011 - and after his title win, that decisions looks like a huge mistake.

After the final whistle at Stamford Bridge, Leeds fans took to Twitter to discuss Schmeichel's success and his departure from Elland Road five years ago, with many fans bewildered that Leeds were so willing to let him leave for such a small fee.

Others simply congratulated him on his title win, and mocked the fans who thought he wasn't good enough during his time at Leeds, before ultimately suggesting that he was sold far too soon.

Here are some of the reactions from Leeds fans after Kasper Schmeichel won the Premier League title on Monday evening...
