Former Liverpool defender and current pundit Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur star Mousa Dembele will be suspended after an incident against Chelsea.
Tottenham's valiant battle for the Premier League title ended away at London rivals Chelsea on Monday evening, despite racing into a 2-0 lead by half-time at Stamford Bridge.
Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both struck to put Spurs 2-0 up, but Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard struck to bring Chelsea level and hand Leicester City the Premier League title.
It was a frustrating night for Tottenham, and it's fair to say that some players lost their cool in West London, as a total of nine Spurs players received yellow cards in a bad-tempered affair.
One particularly sour moment came when Tottenham's Belgian midfielder Mousa Dembele appeared to eye-gouge Chelsea striker Diego Costa - an act which went unpunished.
However, much like Dele Alli for his punch on West Bromwich Albion's Claudio Yacob last week, Dembele could yet face a retrospective ban, with the incident bound to be analysed by the FA this week.
Dembele has been such a crucial part of the Tottenham side this season, and whilst there is little to play for now their title bid is over, he will certainly be missed in the Spurs midfield i he does receive a ban - which would surely be for three games, as Alli's was.
Now, pundit Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that he thinks Dembele's season is over - and slammed the referee's assistant for not seeing the incident, despite seemingly staring right at the eye-gouge.
"It is shocking," said Carragher. "The man he (Dembele) is up against, Costa, how many times has he been seen doing things like this? That's the end of Dembele's season, there is no doubt about that."
"He can't not have seen that. There is no doubt Mark Clattenburg has been lenient and I don't mind officials being lenient in big games. But incidents like that, the linesman is looking straight at it and he froze and has bottled his decision," he added.
Do you think Dembele deserves a ban?
