Eric Black shares what he's been discussing with Aston Villa's players

Aston Villa put in an improved performance, but it was not enough to get them a victory over Watford.

Eric Black has told Aston Villa’s official site that he has been stressing the importance of the rest of the season to the squad.

Villa have been doomed for some time, and their relegation has already been confirmed.

However, Black has been telling his players that they must give their supporters something to cheer.

Villa fans have been starved of success this season, and the Scottish boss wants his players to start putting in some improved displays to try and restore some pride back into the Midlands club.

Black felt that Villa did that with their latest performance, even though they fell to a 3-2 defeat against Watford.

The Claret and Blues had looked to be on their way to an unexpected victory at Vicarage Road, but two late goals from Troy Deeney denied them the victory.

And Black said: “That's all I think we can do [give the fans a better display]. That's what we've spoken about with the players.

“It's a fantastic football club with fantastic supporters and everything that surrounds it.

“It's about getting one little step, as small as it is, to getting the supporters back on side.

“Today the players deserve credit. They've been criticised and justifiably. “Today not. They deserved to win the game.”

Villa’s remaining two matches this season come against Newcastle United and Arsenal.

The Claret and Blues have won just three Premier League matches to date, and they have only accumulated 16 points.
