Newcastle United are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship.
Former West Bromwich Albion and West Ham United defender Danny Gabbidon suggested on the Goals on Sunday show on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday morning (broadcast from 11am, May 1) that Newcastle United will not get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
With Aston Villa having already been relegated, two out of Newcastle, Sunderland and Norwich City will join the Villans in the Championship next season.
Gabbidon has suggested that Rafael Benitez’s will retain their Premier League status for next season.
“I think Newcastle have got the momentum,” said the former Wales international on the Goals on Sunday show on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday morning (broadcast from 11am, May 1) while discussing the relegation battle.. “They will be looking at the Villa game away. If they win that one, then that could be enough.
“You never know, with the tough games that Sunderland have. It’s going to go to the last week. It keeps changing every week, doesn’t it? But Newcastle certainly look like they have got the momentum with them at the moment.”
Both Norwich and Sunderland have a game in hand, and that is a disadvantage for Newcastle.
However, it does not mean that the Canaries and the Black Cats will pick up maximum points from those matches.
Newcastle’s recent results and performances have been encouraging, and the Magpies will be confident of winning against Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
