Report: Roy Hodgson monitoring Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of Euro 2016

The Arsenal midfielder could make it into the England squad for Euro 2016.

England manager Roy Hodgson is keeping an eye on Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of Euro 2016, reports the Mirror.

The Gunners star has been out injured for the last two months having picked up a knee injury against Barcelona, but is set to return to this week.

It has been another lacklustre campaign for him amidst his club's disappointing season, as he has not only struggled for his fitness but his best form also.

Neither of those have deterred the England boss though, who is asking for fitness updates and making regular checks on the player himself, according to the Mirror.

Hodgson is well known for having his favourites in his current set up and sticking by them over his reign, and Chamberlain is certainly among them.

He was part of his squad for Euro 2012 and would have gone to the last World Cup only for an untimely injury to rule him out of the tournament.

With just 23 men to pick for this summer’s tournament in France, Hodgson’s options are limited, meaning versatility is key.

That is what could be attracting to him the idea of taking Chamberlain, with him able to play all across midfield if required.
