Robbie Savage criticises Eric Black

Robbie Savage says that Aston Villa caretaker-manager Eric Black should play more youngsters.

Former Derby County and Birmingham City midfielder Robbie Savage criticised Aston Villa caretaker-manager Eric Black on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show on Saturday evening (April 30).

The former Wales international suggested that Black should have played more youngsters in the Premier League match against Watford away from home at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

“Give the kids an opportunity to play,” said Savage on the BBC Radio 5 live 606 show on Saturday evening (April 30). “Get them ready for next season. Nonsense.”

Savage does make a valid point. After all, what is there to lose? Villa have already been relegated to the Championship.

The problem is that it is not always right to throw in the youngsters when the situation is dire.

Villa have already suffered a number of heavy defeats this season, and it would be hugely frustrating for the fans if they watch their team lose by a big margin once again.

Moreover, some of the youngsters at Villa may not be ready to play for the first team.

The Villans will take on relegation candidates Newcastle United at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
