Liverpool will take on Villarreal at Anfield in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday evening.
The Premier League outfit lost the first leg of the tie 1-0 in Spain last week, meaning that the Yellow Submarine have the advantage.
Former Liverpool striker Owen, though, believes that the Reds will get the better of Villarreal at home and progress to the final of the Europa League.
“Liverpool, despite the changes in personnel, disappointed me on Sunday at Swansea but there is something magical about Anfield on a European night and I expect to see the Reds not only win on the night but overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg,” the former Newcastle United striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
“If the Yellow Submarines score Liverpool have to get at least three but they got four against Dortmund in the last round and I expect the Kop to play its part.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Liverpool to qualify at 5/4.”
Liverpool will fancy their chances of winning against Villarreal, especially as they lost the first leg only 1-0.
An early goal for the Reds at Anfield could well set them on their way to a comfortable victory, but the Merseyside outfit should not underestimate Villarreal.
Marcelino’s side have already confirmed their place in the top four in La Liga, underlining the strength of the squad and the quality of the players.
If Villarreal score first, then it is hard to see Liverpool launch a comeback like they did against Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
