Tottenham head to Chelsea tonight hoping to keep their title hopes alive with a victory.
The Belgium star claims that his international teammate is jealous because his Chelsea side have not risen to the challenge this season.
Hazard had commented how Chelsea will do everything in their power to stop Tottenham winning the league as that was the last thing the Chelsea squad wanted to see happen, and Dembélé responded emphatically:
“He is not the type of person to normally make those types of comments or to envy other people’s success. I am surprised at what Eden has said. Tottenham play some of the most attractive football in the Premier League — we have a beautiful style of play. But I won’t pay too much heed to his comments and those from Cesc Fabregas, who has said similar things."
With Leicester City drawing against Manchester United yesterday, Spurs are still mathematically involved in the title race, although anything but a win would end their hopes. Contrastingly, Chelsea were out of the title race by Christmas, and currently sit 10th in the Premier League, although a win would see them leap-frog Stoke City into ninth.
The war of words in the lead up to this fixture has stoked the fire for what already would have been a heated contest.
Dembélé finished off by telling The Sun how he will have a word with Hazard before kick-off:
“I will have a word with Eden before the game, although I will make a joke of it. I won’t conduct a half-hour interview with him. I am convinced he didn’t think about what he said."
Chelsea vs Tottenham kicks off tonight at 8pm.
