According to the Mirror, Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse is a £6 million target for a number of Chinese clubs.
The report claims that the 30-year-old striker has clubs from the Far East on red alert as he is to soon enter the final 12 months of his existing contract at St. James’ Park.
Cisse has been in and out of the Newcastle first-team this season, making a total of 20 Premier League appearances for the club - 13 starts - but scoring just three goals.
With the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Georginio Wijnaldum, Ayoze Perez and Seydou Doumbia for options, the Senegal international has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth.
However, under new boss Rafa Benitez, he is making more of an impact and the Toon Army are still hopeful he can play a big part in the club’s bid to preserve their Premier League status.
But beyond this season, and regardless of what division Newcastle play in next year, Cisse’s future at the club is in doubt and it would not come as a surprise to see him leave this summer.
Cisse has been an influential figure since joining the club from Freiburg in January 2012, and he immediately made his mark at the club by scoring 13 league goals in his opening 14 appearances.
