Report: West Ham United plot record bid for Alexander Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette

The Lyon striker is top of Slaven Bilic's wish list this summer.

West Ham United are plotting a club record move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, reports the Telegraph.

The Hammers are keen to add a top class striker to their squad this summer and have scouted a number of players across Europe ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now, it appears they have put Lacazette at the top of that list and they are keen on making him their marquee signing ahead of next season.

According to the report Slaven Bilic’s side will be willing to pay as much as €30million for his signature, around £23.5million, which would be a club record.

The current record is the £17.5million they paid Liverpool for Andy Carroll, but this deal would surpass that comfortably.

And as far as the Telegraph is concerned the player, who has also attracted attention from Newcastle United, Sunderland and Stoke City in the past, would be interested in a move to London.

That comes as a result of their move to the Olympic Stadium next summer, as well as their fine form this year, which have both made the club a more attractive option to players.

Should a move not happen though, the other players being considered are Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi and Liverpool flop Christian Benteke.
