Kasper Schmeichel comments on Chelsea v Tottenham ahead of potentially decisive clash

Kasper Schmeichel for Leicester City

Leicester star is hoping Chelsea can beat Spurs to hand his side the title.

Leicester City missed their big chance to seal the Premier League title on Sunday afternoon, drawing with Manchester United at Old Trafford when they required a win.

Nevertheless they remain in a strong position, eight points clear at the top of the table, although second placed Tottenham Hotspur have a gave in hand.

This is against Chelsea on Monday night, and only a win will do for Spurs. Anything less and Leicester will be champions with two games left to play.

Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is among the Leicester players hoping to pick up a winner's medal, and he hopes their prospects have simply been delayed.

He is quoted by Tuttomercatoweb speaking after the game: "To  come here and have a game like this is a great test of character, something that we would not even imagined until a few weeks ago.

"Now let's see what Tottenham do, we sincerely hope Chelsea will win. It is not over yet , we continue to work and hope they do not get the points at Stanford Bridge."

Tottenham winning would potentially land a psychological blow on Leicester, with two title winning chances passing them by in 24 hours.

Yet they remain in a strong position with their fate in their hands, and can win the league with a victory against Everton or Chelsea regardless, or in the case of a Tottenham slip up against either Southampton or Newcastle United.
