Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his delight at Wigan Athletic’s promotion to the Championship.
Wigan have confirmed their place in the top two in the League One table this season and will feature in the Championship during the 2016-17 campaign.
Robles, who joined Everton in the summer of 2013, played on loan for Wigan from Spanish club Atletico Madrid during the second half of the 2012-13 season.
The former Spain Under-23 international has taken to Twitter to congratulate Wigan on their return to the second tier of English football.
It will be tough for Wigan in the Championship next season, given the number of big clubs and strong teams in the division.
The Latics’ main objective next season should be to finish above the bottom three, and they can then build on from that.
Wigan are at the top of the League One table at the moment with 87 points from 45 matches, three points clear of second-placed Burton Albion.
