£12.5m Tottenham Hotspur target Bernd Leno has reportedly told Bayer Leverkusen he wants to stay

The German talent has been linked with a move away from the club this week.

This week it was reported by The Sun that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing in Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen.

The German goalkeeper has been in fantastic form for his club recently and is regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in the world.

The report also suggested that he has a £12.5 million release clause in his deal, but that reportedly expired yesterday evening.

Not that it would matter as Leno is apparently not interested in a move to Tottenham at present.

It is reported by Express in Germany that Leno held talks with Bayer’s technical director Rudi Voller this weekend and informed him of his decision to stay at the club for at least next season.

This will come as great news for Leverkusen fans, whilst Tottenham will know they are seemingly missing out on a top young goalkeeper.

Of course Spurs do already have two top goalkeeping options, which will soften this blow.

Hugo Lloris looks set to stay at the club going forward and Michel Vorm is a brilliant back-up option.

Leno is out of contract in 2018, so maybe a move for the player then will make more sense.
