The former Leeds sporting director has been working at Watford since last summer.
Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores looks likely to be on his way out of the club this summer – despite what has been a good season from the club.
But it is being reported that Flores could still be on his way out.
So what about the future of consultant sporting director Nicola Salerno.
The former Leeds United sporting director joined up with Watford in the summer and has helped bring in the likes of Miguel Britos, Jose Manuel Jurado and Jose Holebas.
But will he be at the club next season. Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb this week he admitted he would consider a return to Italy this summer – but is not decided on leaving The Hornets – instead suggesting he will just see how the chips fall in June:
“The future? I have not evaluated anything or I was told no. I have a contract with Watford, but am available property. We'll see what is proposed.
“Ready for a possible return to Italy? I have worked extensively in Italy ... I repeat, I have not yet decided, look to see how the season will end. Then I will decide what I will do.
“But honestly it is early to talk about the future. We'll see in June.”
Salerno, who has previously worked at Cagliari and Catania in Italy, was not the most popular figure at Leeds and some of his recruits at Watford – such as Alessandro Diamanti – did not exactly work out either.
But it will be interesting if he continues to work at Watford next season with a move ti Italy seemingly an option.
