The Senegalese winger has not featured for Wednesday since January.
This season has not exactly gone to plan for Modou Sougou at Sheffield Wednesday. The summer arrival from Marseille has struggled to play regularly for the club since making his move to the club – despite early promise.
The 31-year-old has not featured for The Owls since January as he has fallen out of favour with manager Carlos Carvalhal.
So it is no wonder why the Sheffield Wednesday winger is keeping an eye on the fortunes of a former team.
Sougou spent the past two seasons on loan at Evian-Thonon in France and was a hit at the club.
They have struggled this season and are fighting relegation from French football’s second tier.
Last night they took on Stade Brest in a crucial match in their battle for survival and Sougou sent the team this encouraging tweet ahead of the game:
Maybe it worked? Evian won the game 2-0 with goals from Jan Kaye and Morgan Kamin – which gave them their first win in 10 games and moved them out of the relegation zone.
Sougou, whose future at Wednesday looks in doubt, might want to consider a return to the club if they do stay up this season.
