The three sides are fighting it out at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The three teams are currently fighting it out to finish 17th position and secure their Premier League status next season.
It is a battle that is set to go right down to the wire, as just one point separates Newcastle in 19th from rivals Sunderland in 17th.
With so few games of the season remaining, those two, alongside Norwich City, need to start quickly picking up wins and Winterburn says he believes one will manage to pull off a surprise win that will propel them away from the other two.
“The three teams that are fighting it out for the two places left for relegation, they have got to have that belief they can secure the points,” he told Sky Sports.
“I just have a sneaky feeling that one of these teams will pick up a surprise result that will propel them away from the other two teams.“
“It’s so close to call, but all of the managers will be hoping that they can at least into the lead and then open up that lead or have something to protect.”
Of those three clubs fighting it out at the bottom, it is arguably Sunderland that are the favourites to escape at present.
They are finally looking like a solid defensive unit under Sam Allardyce, while at the other end they can rely on Jermain Defoe to get them the goals they need in games.
He has 13 goals in the Premier League this season, a fine return considering his sides struggles, and is the one thing that both Newcastle and Norwich don’t have in their teams.
