Mousa Dembele has seemingly hinted that he believes that Tottenham will win the Premier League title next season after suggesting that they will only improve on what they have achieved during this campaign, Sky Sports reports.
Mauricio Pochettino's men are the only team that can deny Leicester City winning the title this year, but their draw with West Brom on Monday has meant that their hopes of catching the Foxes are now extremely bleak.
But rather than get too downhearted about coming so close this season, the Spurs midfielder has predicted that the side's rise up the table will continue during the next campaign, which would obviously mean that he expects them to be the ones lifting the trophy in a year's time.
"Everybody can feel like we're making this step [forward]. We're playing well as a team and we can only do better next year," he told Sky Sports.
"Next year, the top teams will be stronger but I think we will be stronger as well. You can see the vibe, there's a positive future for us."
Though the Belgian is confident that Tottenham will continue their ascent up the table next year, the demands of playing in the Champions League will arguably have to be taken into consideration if they hope to be the ones going into the final games of next season with a comfortable lead.
But the way that Pochettino has managed to turn them from outside candidates for the top four and into title contenders in such a short space of time should give the club's supporters confidence that they have the potential to clear that final hurdle that appears set to elude them this season.
