Fabio Borini has snubbed the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, to insist Mario Balotelli is the best player he has ever played alongside.
Both players were moved on by Liverpool last summer, with Borini sold to Sunderland and Balotelli loaned to AC Milan.
The duo struggled to fill the void left by Daniel Sturridge when he was out injured, and struggled to combine effectively for the Reds.
He has known Balotelli from previous under-21 competition in Italy, and believes the Reds should not sell the controversial striker, despite the fact he has scored just two league goals in two seasons.
Borini was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb speaking to Sky Italia, when asked about the best player he had performed alongside, and was unequivocal in his response.
He said: "Balotelli, no doubt: I met him in the Under-21s when he was at Inter. When we arrived in the game we were losing a match 2-0 and he told us 'the ball given to me and we win'. he took it three times and had three goals. I think Liverpool should keep him."
Balotelli is an interesting decision for Jurgen Klopp, who could find a role for him, but it is more likely that if a good offer comes in then the Reds will jump at the chance to cash in on the Italian.
