Ross Barkley stalling on Everton talks

HITC Sport understands that England midfielder has concerns about club's direction.

Ross Barkley has told Everton that he is not ready to talk terms over a new long-term deal, HITC Sport understands.

Everton have a new deal lined up for the England star, but Barkley's has been hugely disappointed with The Toffees' season which is set to see boss Roberto Martinez axed.

Barkley is understood to like the idea of a new coach as he has lost faith with Martinez but wants to know who it might be - but he is also bothered by the fact he is now struggling to make Roy Hodgson's starting England XI ahead of this sunmer's European Championship.

With that in mind Barkley, wants to put talks on hold - which is confirmed by Bleacher Report UK.

A host of clubs are tracking the 22-year-old who has just two years left on his current deal, with Manchester pair - Manchester United and Manchester City, both paying close attention.

But HITC Sport understands that captial duo Arsenal and Chelsea are both huge admirers of Barkley, and like with John Stones, will compete for his signature, should the opportunity arise, this summer, to sign him.
