Adam Virgo backs Paul Lambert for Celtic or Derby County jobs

Celtic and Derby County are on the look out for new managers at the end of the season.

Adam Virgo has suggested that Paul Lambert would only have left Blackburn Rovers if he knew he had a chance of getting the job at Celtic or Derby County.

Virgo, who works as a pundit for Channel 5 on their Football League coverage, was reacting on social media soon after Lambert’s announcement that he was parting company with Blackburn was made public.

Lambert will leave Rovers at the end of the season, after failing to be convinced that plans were in place to get the club competing for the play off places in the Championship.

Virgo doesn’t believe that the former Aston Villa man would have left the job, unless he had security from elsewhere, though.

Derby could be on the hunt for a new manager, as they still have Darren Wassall in interim charge.

Wassall has done a fairly impressive job since taking over from Paul Clement, and he could still guide the Midlands side to promotion.

Celtic, meanwhile, will definitely be on the hunt for a new boss - with Ronny Deila set to leave.

Deila has confirmed that he will be exiting Parkhead at the end of the campaign, and Lambert is now one of the favourites to get the job on a permanent basis.
