Paul Ince believes Everton are frustrated considering the teams who have thrived this season

Everton fans are not happy with the way their season has gone.

Everton fans are set to stage a protest against the management of Roberto Martinez this week after the club’s disappointing campaign.

Some however might struggle to see why Everton fans are so frustrated.

Two cup semi-finals and a mid-table finish is not exactly a bad season.

But one former Liverpool player who can understand why Everton fans are so frustrated is Paul Ince.

Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ this week (28/04/16) the former England international explained why he felt Everton fans were so exasperated with this season:

“Of course you understand their frustrations.

“When you look at the Everton team they have got some very, very good players. I think the issue is here how well Leicester and Tottenham have done this year.

“Because if you look at Tottenham’s players compared to Everton players, you wouldn’t say there is a lot of difference in them.

“When Everton fans see Tottenham up there, Leicester up there and Stoke above them it is going to be frustrating.”

There is no doubt that Everton fans see this season as something of a missed opportunity. Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have all underachieved and Everton fans will feel they are currently a match for any other team in the Premier League.

The likes of Ross Barkley, Romelu Lukaku and James McCarthy are three players who would walk into any Premier League team – and there are others in this Everton team who are that good.

So the frustration simply stems from the belief, as Ince states, that Everton could easily be up there with the likes of Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
