Southampton's Fraser Forster comments on reports linking him with Chelsea

The Saints goalkeeper is highly rated but could he be on the move this summer?

Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster has admitted he is flattered by recent reports linking him with a move to Chelsea.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier this month that Forster was attracting the interest of last season's Premier League champions if their number one goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois were to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Forster told Sky Sports: "I think it is a compliment in many ways because if you are being linked with teams then you are obviously doing the right things.

"I have two years left on my contract at Southampton and I have loved my time here. I can't thank the club enough for the way they have stood by me when I was injured.

"I'm just concentrating on the day-to-day business here at the club and then hopefully I can have a good summer with England."

Forster has shown some impressive form since his return to the side after a serious knee injury - including a run of six successive clean sheets in the Premier League which illustrated just how much of a trusted last line of defence the England international is.

Southampton will obviously hope not to lose Forster in the summer, and instead will hope that he commits to the club for the longer term in the near future. But it does show highly rated he is if other Premier League clubs are looking at him; especially if they have ambitions of challenging towards the top of the league consistently.
