Everton supporters seem largely against Mark Hughes becoming their next manager.
Rumours surfaced in the Daily Mirror yesterday, suggesting that Hughes was on Everton’s wishlist if they do decide to part ways with Roberto Martinez.
The Toffees board are expected to meet this week to discuss Martinez’s future, with his job starting to appear untenable.
Everton fans have been calling for the Spaniard to be sacked for some time now, and the volume of supporters wanting change is growing by the game.
The Merseyside club have badly disappointed this season, and they currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League table.
Hughes, meanwhile, has taken Stoke forward considerably over the past few seasons.
Hughes had a difficult task taking over from Tony Pulis, but he has gradually changed the Potters’ style, and ensured that they have remained in the Premier League.
Everton fans appear to be hoping for a bigger name, though, and they have called for their club to start showing some ambition.
Here is the best reaction to the Hughes rumours on social media site Twitter.
Mark Hughes to #EFC really? Decent manager but hardly a step up from Martinez. Another mid table manager— Mike Bristow (@MichaelBristo) April 28, 2016
See Mark Hughes trending thinking he's been sacked.... nope, linked to US!#EFC aim higher!— Tony (@TonyEFCWright) April 28, 2016
