A high scoring battle... Ian Holloway predicts Sheffield Wednesday v Cardiff City

Sheffield Wednesday are due to face Cardiff City at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Ian Holloway has predicted that Sheffield Wednesday will beat Cardiff City 3-2 at the weekend on Sky Sports’ website.

Wednesday are due to host Cardiff, in what could be a decisive match for both club’s seasons.

The Owls currently are in possession of the last play off spot, but Cardiff are trying to track them down.

The Bluebirds are stationed four points behind Carlos Carvalhal’s side, with just two matches remaining.

It means that Cardiff simply have to beat Wednesday to have any chance of catching the Yorkshire side, and making it into the promotion deciding fixtures.

Wednesday have been strong at home this season, and it means that Russell Slade’s side’s task looks a tough one.

However, Wednesday’s form going into the match has been poor, and they have failed to win any of their last four outings.

It leaves the contest looking difficult to predict, but Holloway feels that that Wednesday will just have too much for Cardiff on the day.

“Cardiff need to approach this game like a play-off second leg,” the former QPR boss said. “They must win to keep their season alive. I thought Sheffield Wednesday had completed the job last weekend, but Darren Bent's late goal has kept open the door.

"I love Sheffield Wednesday's manager Carlos Carvalhal. He talks sense and has a clear plan about where he wants them to go. He seems supremely confident in his team's ability. He made the point that they have two chances to seal the final play-off spot and Cardiff just have one. Russell Slade's side will have a right go, but Wednesday will come out on top."

If the play off race does come down to the final day - then Wednesday will need to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Cardiff will have to be victorious against Birmingham City.
