The Manchester City goalkeeper made a save reminiscent of Manchester United legend according to the former defender.
The England number one was in fine form on Tuesday evening as he put in a top display against Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Indeed, he was crucial to his side securing a draw in the game, as he made two huge saves to stop the La Liga giants from bagging a crucial away goal.
City can now head to the Bernabeu for the second leg in high confidence, and Ferdinand praised his display.
“Joe Hart, I have to say, deserves huge credit,” he told BT Sport.
“He made two fantastic saves one of them was Schmeichel-esque. You need your keeper to play well at this stage if you’re to go through. The confidence is brimming from this boy.”
Manuel Pellegrini’s side will now be confident of securing passage into the final when they head to the Bernabeu for the second leg.
They will only need to secure another 0-0 draw, or even a score draw, in the game and will be confident of doing so after Tuesday’s result.
Much of course, will rest on the fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Madrid a much different prospect when they have their star man available to lead the line alongside the likes of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
