Report: Mesut Ozil close to new Arsenal deal; Sanchez yet to agree

The Gunners are keen to get the two stars signed up to new deals.

Mesut Ozil is close to agreeing a new contract at Arsenal having agreed a deal in principle, reports the Mirror.

The Germany star’s current deal is set to expire in the summer, meaning he would be moving into the dangerous two-year period this summer.

The Gunners are naturally keen to avoid any uncertainty, and have already begun talks about a new extension to extend his stay at the club.

Those discussions have seemingly gone well, with him now close to putting pen to paper on a new contract that will also likely see him improve his wages, according to the Mirror.

One star who is yet to agree a new deal however is Alexis Sanchez, with talks still ongoing over him extending his stay.

The Chilean is still under the deal he signed when joining from Barcelona two years ago, but the club are keen to improve upon that.

They want to extend his deal to 2019, and are willing to pay big to do so, with a deal worth £160,000-per-week on the table.

The Gunners may want to move quickly to secure him to that deal however, with the Mirror report stating Bayern Munich are interested in their star man.
