Southampton's Dusan Tadic keen to be more selfish in front of goal

Tadic has found the net on nine occasions this season.

Southampton winger Dusan Tadic has said that he might need to be a bit more greedy in the final third, saying he does not shoot as much as he should.

Tadic has found the net on nine occasions in all competitions so far this season, but feels he can offer more in front of goal.

He is quoted in the Daily Echo, saying: "I need to improve on that because I think I have a good shot, but sometimes I don’t use it so much. Sometimes I search for another solution, but if you don’t shoot you can’t score a goal.

“All [of your] career you can improve some things. I need to be more selfish, to finish action.

“Not because I’m not that (selfish) kind of player, I like to give assists but, sometimes, in some moments, I need to finish action for myself.”

It seems that Saints boss Ronald Koeman wants him to take more opportunities in front of goal instead of laying it on a plate for others.

But getting in and around double figures for the season is a decent enough tally for a player who operates in predominantly a wide role. However, he may like to improve that output further in order to both better his own record and that of the Saints.

Sometimes confidence can have a lot to do with things, but Tadic's flashes of quality since his arrival in the Premier League should show that he can be the kind of player that can contribute significantly in front of goal for his side in the  future.
