Leeds United defender has been ruled out for the season.
Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi has sent a heartfelt message to supporters after being ruled out for the final two games of the season.
The Swiss right-back was stretchered off in the weekend's 2-2 draw with Hull City, with the Yorkshire Post reporting he suffered ankle ligament damage.
He is expected to make a full recovery in time for pre-season, but has expressed his disappointment at his campaign being curtailed early.
Posting on social network Instagram, Berardi wrote: "Sorry not be able to finish the season, sometimes football is cruel but is not in my case.
"I was very lucky in both my injuries could be much worse. I'll be ready to fight with the lads soon. Thanks to everybody."
Berardi missed two months earlier in the season, with his absence being sorely felt.
Not all of Leeds United's signings under Massimo Cellino have worked out, but Berardi has been one of the very best.
Berardi, 27, has proved himself with a number of committed displays, and he has ensured that Sam Byram's sale has not negatively impacted the side, even keeping the West Ham star out of the team during his final months at Leeds.
