David Gold speaks out about Reece Burke's first-team chances at West Ham United

West Ham United have a number of bright prospects breaking through currently.

West Ham United co-owner David Gold has suggested that the club’s youngsters may have to wait a while longer to get their first-team chance.

With West Ham’s top four chances becoming slimmer by the week, there have been some suggestions that their leading academy prospects could be promoted to the senior squad before the end of the campaign.

Reece Burke is one of the names which West Ham fans are wanting to see in action - as he has had such an impressive season out on loan at Bradford City.

Burke scooped the Bantams Player of the Season award yesterday evening, and there have been calls for the youngster to be given a start at centre-back.

However, Gold has suggested that there are still plenty of players ahead of the England youth international in the pecking order.

West Ham have loaned a host of players out this season to the lower leagues, with Josh Cullen, Elliot Lee and Martin Samuelsen all impressing.

The Hammers’ future appears to be very bright, and the recent addition of Toni Martinez suggests that they are still looking to improve the talent they have in their youth squads.
