Florin Gardos has expressed his delight on Twitter after making another appearance for Southampton’s development side last night.
Gardos has not featured for Southampton senior team this season, after what has been a gruelling battle with injury.
The Romanian defender damaged his knee last summer, and he has found it difficult to return to full fitness.
Initial estimates suggested that Gardos would miss six months worth of action, but he has been out for far longer.
However, the 27-year-old has been back in training for some time now and he appears to be edging closer to making a comeback.
Gardos started for Southampton’s under-21 side in their match against Manchester United, and he helped them pick up a 2-1 victory.
Gardos has now played in Southampton’s last two development squad fixtures, and he does not seem to have suffered any repercussions from his injury.
Gardos could now feature for Southampton before the end of the season, but it seems more likely that he will be part of Ronald Koeman’s plans for next campaign.
