The two sides met in the Champions League semi final on Tuesday evening, as they both looked to secure a positive result ahead of the second leg.
Indeed, defence ruled the evening as they played out a 0-0 draw, with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart producing two big saves to ensure his side kept a clean sheet.
Crucially that meant Madrid do not have any away goals to take into the return leg, a big bonus for City, and Balague says that Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be the happier with the result.
Real Madrid was overall the better team, but City will be happier with the result. As Mou keeps reminding us, 0-0 is good for the home team— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) April 26, 2016
He was not the only one to tweet on the result either, as former Manchester City stars David James and Michael Ball also shared their opinion on the result.
Big save from Joe Hart, helps keep the score 0-0, a decent result for @MCFC in their first champions league semi final— David James (@jamosfoundation) April 26, 2016
The 0-0 draw certainly sets up a fascinating second leg clash at the Bernabeu, with the tie firmly in the balance.
At present Real Madrid are arguably slight favourites to go through to the final, although much will rest on if they can get Cristiano Ronaldo fit.
