Former Tottenham man claims players froze

Tottenham Hotspur have been fantastic all season, but too many draws from winning positions have hampered their fight for the title.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender Ramon Vega told Sky Sports News how he believes his former club froze in last night's draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Vega explained how the pressure finally got to Spurs' young players, and highlighted the expectation levels as a reason why.

"The expectation at Tottenham Hotspur is way much higher than Leicester City," he said. "They are in a position where they can actually win the league. The Spurs fans expected to get things done, and in the second-half I could feel the tension, and I think the young players were frozen."

Many pundits still believed the Lilywhites would overhaul Leicester in the league table, but last night's result has now left them hoping for a collapse of meteoric proportions from the Foxes.

The East Midland side now need just one victory from their final three games to be crowned champions, and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will be cursing his side's inability to see out games throughout the course of the season.

The North London outfit have dropped 15 points from winning positions this term, with last night's draw feeling more like a loss.

Questions must surely be asked of the Argentine repeatedly fielding the same XI week in, week out, and with Champions League football to contend with next season, squad depth will be an area that most definitely needs addressing.

Tottenham host Chelsea next week in what will be their third consecutive Monday night fixture, and with Leicester playing the day before, it could be a game that has no bearing on the outcome of the title.
