Running into referees and ruthless challenges: Leeds United's next signing?

A look at what Marvin Bakalorz could bring to Leeds United.

Leeds United have been linked with signing Marvin Bakalorz, by German newspaper BILD.

The Whites are claimed to have entered the trace for the Paderborn player, who is currently playing in the German second division.

The 26-year-old is an uncompromising midfielder who would be well suited to the physical challenge of the Championship.

Last season he was at the centre of controversy, playing in the Bundesliga at the time, when one of his brutal challenges injured Borussia Dortmund Marco Reus, putting him out of action for four months, ESPN reported.

Bakalorz, who once was part of Dortmund's academy, was also involved in a more comical incident, running into and flooring a referee - as can be seen below.

With a reported €1m release clause (£780,000), Batalorz is not overly expensive. He has made 30 appearances this season, scoring twice and providing one assist.

When he does score, it's not bad at all, and on this evidence below, perhaps he should shoot more often...
