Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Memphis Depay transfer talk

Manchester United winger in link to Liverpool.

Memphis Depay was an unused substitute for Manchester United against Everton in the FA Cup at the weekend, and even his latest omission came as little surprise.

The Dutchman was hailed as a big signing last summer, and cost the club a sizeable fee, but he has failed to live up to expectations and win the faith of Louis van Gaal, a manager who battled hard to sign him.

Over the past 24 hours surprise reports have cropped up in national newspapers linking Depay with a possible move to United's bitter rivals Liverpool.

The Express report Liverpool's interest, with The Mirror claiming he has been offered around to rival Premier League sides as United consider cutting their losses.

This could be a mistake for the Red Devils, with Depay prolific at PSV last season and just one year into his United career.

Manager Louis van Gaal's future at the club is uncertain, heading into the final year of his contract, which many predict he will not even make it into.

If United sold Depay to Liverpool it could be a decision which comes back to haunt them for many a season, and it would be a big surprise if a deal were to happen.

Here is a look at what Liverpool fans made of the claims via Twitter...
