Mallik Wilks netted for Leeds under-21 side on Monday.
Young Leeds United striker Mallik Wilks reached a personal milestone on Monday as he scored his first ever goal for the club's under-21 side.
Wilks netted in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Barnsley, with Frank Mulhern and Jack McKay both continuing their impressive recent form.
The 17-year-old sent a message on social media after the game, expressing his delight at the goal, but disappointment at his side failing to win.
Happy to Score my first goal for under 21s today not happy about drawing tho— Mallik Wilks (@MallikWilks) April 25, 2016
Wilks is an exciting name to watch and could turn out to be the most talented striker in Leeds' academy at present.
He began the season with the under-18 side and turned heads by scoring four goals in one game back in September.
Former under-21 coach Paul Hart called him up to the under-21s earlier this year, but injury and competition for places delayed his progress, until yesterday.
The goal will have added to his confidence that he can step up and kick on next season, and eventually force his way towards the first team.
