Joel Robles accidentally liked an Instagram post calling for Everton manager Roberto Martinez to be sacked.
Joel Robles insists that he made a mistake by ‘liking’ an Instagram picture which suggested Roberto Martinez should be sacked as Everton manager.
Robles accidentally liked a picture on the social media site with a caption ‘Martinez out? Like if you think so’ after Everton’s FA Cup defeat against Manchester United.
The Toffees were beaten 2-1 by the Red Devils last Saturday, with calls for Martinez to be sacked growing louder by the game from the club’s supporters.
When Joel did accidentally make the mistake of seemingly backing the calls for his manager to be sacked, Everton fans were delighted with the goalkeeper.
However, Joel moved to clarify the situation on Twitter last night - as he looked to calm rumours of dressing room unrest.
It's very easy to do "like" on instagram. I didn't want to touch that picture......— Joel Robles (@joelroblesb) April 24, 2016
There were some Everton fans who responded who doubted the credibility of Robles’ excuse, though.
@joelroblesb you're one of us lad. No need to hide it, we all know once everton touches you nothing is the same!— Baldy - CS/H1 (@Baldys_) April 24, 2016
Martinez is now under serious pressure at Everton, after what has been a highly disappointing campaign.
The Sun suggest that Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe could replace the former Wigan Athletic manager at Goodison Park.
