Dougie Freedman revealed on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 23) that he had a good relationship with Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi.
Freedman was appointed the Forest manager in February 2015 following the departure of Stuart Pearce.
The Scotsman was sacked by the Championship outfit last month following a run of disappointing results.
The former Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers manager has admitted his disappointment at losing his job at the City Ground.
Freedman, though, has revealed that he had a good relationship with Al-Hasawi and has underlined the Forest chairman’s passion for the club.
“I was disappointed, but I had a fantastic relationship with Fawaz, I really did,” said the former Scotland international on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 23).
“He is a football man. We did talk football most of the time. He was frustrated more than anybody in terms of the situation we found ourselves in.”
Al-Hasawi is indeed very passionate about Forest and genuinely wants the former European Cup winners to regain their glory days.
The problem is that the Kuwaiti businessman has not always made the right decisions regarding hiring and firing managers, and this has not gone down well with the fans.
Hopefully for the Reds’ supporters, Al-Hasawi will appoint the right manager in the summer and maintain faith in him for more than just a few months.
