Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has been speaking to Sky Sports’ Fantasy Football Club about the players he has faced this season, naming one outstanding performer as the man he would like to see the Blues sign if they had to pick someone from a top flight opponent.
“I would go for Dimitri Payet at West Ham,” the Chelsea stopper said in comments later posted online by Goal.com, and that is no surprise given the French international’s superb form since arriving at Upton Park last summer.
Payet signed for West Ham from Marseille and he wasted little time proving how good he is, with 12 goals and 12 assists so far this season.
At 29 he still has a few years at the top of his game and the Hammers look set to benefit from his majestic talent as this squad looks to build their reputation both in England and in Europe under manager Slaven Bilic.
Bilic was short-listed for the PFA Player of the Year award but he missed out to Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez on Sunday evening.
But despite that individual disappointment it is clear Payet has done enough to impress many of his opponents this season, with the Chelsea ‘keeper among those admirers.
