The Algeria international has been spectacular this season, scoring 17 goals and adding a further 11 assists in 34 Premier League matches as the Foxes hone in on the title.
Considering Mahrez isn’t predominantly a striker, his contribution in front of goal this season has been remarkable and there can be no question that he deserves the end of the season honour.
Taking to Twitter upon the confirmation of the PFA Player of the Year winner, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand joined a list of renowned pundits praising the Leicester favourite.
Riyad Mahrez well deserved winner of PFA Player of the year. Would have got my vote— Matt Holland (@mattholland8) April 24, 2016

Riyad’s latest contribution to Leicester’s title cause was to open the scoring during his side’s 4-0 rout of Swansea City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
The result takes Claudio Ranieri’s men momentarily eight points clear of Tottenham Hotspur, with the North London club hosting West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Monday.
Two more wins from their remaining three matches will see Leicester win the title, and it’s safe to say they have the backing of most neutrals who are well and truly rooting for the underdog.
Mahrez joined Leicester from Le Havre in January 2014, and before that he featured for a side called Quimper who currently play in the fourth tier of French football. Some rise to the top.
