Newcastle United drew 2-2 with Liverpool.
The Magpies headed in to the encounter with the Reds with renewed optimism after picking up an impressive four points from back-to-back home games against Swansea City and Manchester City.
After looking seemingly down and out following their defeats to both Southampton and Norwich City, Newcastle have bounced back and showed similar qualities against Liverpool.
Rafa Benitez’s side found themselves 2-0 down at the interval, yet strikes from Papiss Cisse and Jack Colback in the second period hauled them level and earned them a hard-earned point.
Commenting on their display for BBC Radio Five Live, Jenas said: “The way Newcastle have come back has been brilliant. It's the exact same spirit and determination they showed against Manchester City.”
Newcastle have often let themselves down this season with a poor attitude and disappointing performances, yet in the past three matches they can’t be criticised for their fighting spirit.
Benitez has made some important tweaks in his line-up, yet more importantly he seems to have given the players a boost in confidence and the willingness to fight is now evidently on show.
While the result doesn’t take Newcastle out of the bottom three, it does help build momentum ahead of the final three matches where they must be looking at taking at least six points.
