Tim Cahill frustrated with Everton boss Roberto Martinez's use of substitutes

Kevin Mirallas was only brought on for the last minute of Everton's FA Cup clash with Manchester United.

Tim Cahill has suggested that Roberto Martinez should have brought on Kevin Mirallas earlier in Everton’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United yesterday.

Mirallas was only introduced by the Toffees for the final minute, as they chased an equaliser after Anthony Martial had hit the back of the net.

The Belgian winger failed to touch the ball during his time on the pitch, and Cahill felt that he was wasted sitting on the bench.

Martinez’s reluctance to utilise Mirallas came as a result of the quality of Everton’s second half performance.

The Toffees were slow to get out of the blocks at Wembley, and they were made to pay when Marouane Fellaini put United into the lead.

However, Everton’s showing after half-time was impressive. The Toffees created a host of chances, and they were eventually rewarded when Chris Smalling diverted Gerard Deulofeu’s cross into the back of his own net.

Martinez’s men continued to push for the winner, but they were cruelly beaten when Martial raced through on goal and finished well with one of the last kicks of the game.

Martinez’s job at Goodison Park now looks insecure following this defeat and one against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby earlier in the week.
