Ian Wright names his Premier League Team of the Year

Stars from Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Manchester United, and West Ham United make the cut, but no Arsenal players.

Ian Wright has named his Premier League Team of the Year to BT Sport, and surprisingly there are no Arsenal stars in it.

Instead the former forward has opted for a side dominated by stars from both Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, which is unsurprising given they are currently first and second.

Indeed, it seems the Gunners’ famous rivals have impressed Wright considerably given he names no fewer than five of their players in his team is his team named to Fletch and Sav.

Starting in goal, there are no surprises as Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is between the sticks.

In defence it is a mix of Spurs and Leicester, as Wes Morgan and Toby Alderweireld are the central defensive partnership.

At left back is Danny Rose, while right back is occupied by Foxes full back Danny Simpson, a surprise pick ahead of Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

In central midfield it is Tottenham duo Eric Dier and Dele Alli, while Leicester's Riyad Mahrez and West Ham star Dimitri Payet are on the wings in a midfield full of creativity.

Again there is a shock admission for an Arsenal man as Mesut Ozil misses out, similar to how he missed out on the PFA Team despite racking up 18 assists this season.

Up front are the Premier League’s top scorers as Harry Kane partners Jamie Vardy, in a frontline that England may name at Euro 2016 this summer.
